So you spent half the weekend under the table and the other half over the toilet, huh? Been there, done that – not in a very long time mind you. I learned that lesson years ago. If you have been “blacking out”, take my advice and lay off the booze. If you find that a difficult task, seek professional help.
Still there are worse things to face than a hangover and the incoherency of a mind that has just experienced a lost weekend. Yeah, that’s right. You still have to face Monday morning: the traffic, the boss, the grind. How will you ever get through it?
Music, some vitamin-C, and a whole lotta water!
Not just any music mind you, but the kind of music that draws on the darkest depths of the weekend and the ugly week ahead, balanced with something that reflects your hopes and dreams for the future. Oh how teetering the soul can be on the brink of another week! C’est la vie. C’est la vie.
A parade of hits from an ever-narrowing (a la Orwell) selection of “classic” rock just won’t cut it. If you wanted that, you could just tune in to the robotic jock world of “morning radio” on the Fuck Music (FM) dial.
Some jazz might work, but the lighter stuff would just bring you down, and hard-bop is just too far out for a Monday morning. It’s more of a Wednesday morning affair. Oh those freaking hump days.
Dissonance for the damned might help break those delerium tremors (sometimes even coffee brewed by Juan Valdez himself ain’t strong ’nuff), but hell you’ve played that Sonic Youth tape to death by now.
Nah. What you need is a mix-up that’s just weird enough to confuse your melted mindoid, and interesting enough to heal it – and perhaps your soul.
