I believe I was at this show. Checked my notes, and I had seen Grappelli with the Diz Disley Trio at the Great American on April 23, 1978 (but they may have played more than one night) with the lineup you had proposed (Disley, Etheridge, Torff). Later in the evening, there were guest sit-ins by David Grisman on mandolin, Tony Rice on guitar, and George Shearing on piano (all who happened to be in the audience.
