Thanks for the details on Bloch, zekelebec. Do you know if Montezuma’s Revenge or Django made any records?

Greg Bloch went on to play with an Italian progressive rock group called PFM, then played as the staff violinist on Saturday Night Live. He later returned to his home in Los Angeles and joined a San Diego Country/Rock/Comedy show band called Montezuma's Revenge. After the breakup of Montezuma's Revenge Greg formed another group with several of the MR members called Django. Django was a jazz oriented group that incorporated violin, keyboards, drums, bass and bagpipes.
The band dissolved after about one year and Greg Bloch eventually died of some sort of blood disorder.

hey rugrat...

thanks for the heads up on this one. it's a pleasant sound, but not really my taste, but i do remember seeing this around when it was first released. i recall being more intrigued by the jacket than the vinyl.

'wooden nickel' was an odd, but interesting little label. kind of similar to 'tumbleweed' out of denver. some great talent, but very little promotion. i also remember dropping in on a show at some little coffeehouse in ann arbor, michigan where i saw a marquee placard announcing "wooden nickel recording artist, mo mcguire." admission was only a buck fifty or something. this was back in the old days of course. anyway, based on the wooden nickel connection, i laid down my greenbacks expecting some chi-town version of tim buckley or someone (don't ask me why, i can't explain that one), but instead i found this busty, curly haired redhead with a guitar, piano, and a lot of soul. she was delightful. as with string cheese though, i don't know what became of her either.
