It's a superb collection --- contemporary and street smart, rich in poetics and rhythm, surprisingly musical in a way that I wouldn't have expected, and passionate as well --- with a focus that raises it above a mere compilation of poets and musicians. Irvine's recorded legacy deserves a major overhaul, as most all of his work is presently out-of-print, including The Amadou Project. Why that hasn't happened is nearly as tragic the the story behind the killing of Amadou. Thank you Rugrat for bringing this project and recording to my attention!
