Banjo Bluegrass was released on the Pentagon label (ALS-137). The following info was taken from the Cape Breton Music: For two decades, Al Hooper’s Blue Diamonds toured all over Canada and the U.S. They were know as Canada’s number one showband and often represented Canada on U.S. telethons. His tireless promotion of the music he grew up with earned him the title of “East Coast Music Ambassador.” In the late 1970’s, Al moved back to New Brunswick, where he opened Al’s Red Lantern, a popular nightspot and musical venue. Al continues to perform and record. He was inducted into the New Brunswick Country Music Hall of Fame in 1990.
