In a previous post I stated that Max Greger’s Safari Trumpet was “one of the best party songs of all time”. That was until I discovered Al Hirt’s Pitty Pat, which is even more silly, and just as danceable. Go-go boots or a leisure suit, either works well for this lounge number. Pitty Pat is fairly close to Kitty Cat which of course is the same as a Pussy Cat, another great – and much hipper – lounge number from the same album. The intro will have you thinking about Blake Edwards’ most famous cat – The Pink Panther.
Al Hirt – The Happy Trumpet

Do you have this entire album digitized? I have been searching for years for it! I listened to this record repeatedly as a kid, and the rareness of it (and the fact that it was never released on CD) has kept me from hearing it since. I don’t have a record player, and services to digitize are ridiculously expensive. Is there any way to get the album from you if you’ve already ripped it? Thanks!
Sorry, I don’t have that whole album digitized. It is filed away deep in a closet now, but if I ever come across it again, I will rip it for you. You may be able to find it by doing a web search using the album name, followed by the word “blogspot” – that’s how I find most things I am looking for that I cannot find on LP/CD. There are a lot of music blogs out there that specialize in lounge/exotica and lighter jazz that might have this item. Good Luck!
