Voodoo Funk

I am unable to post MP3’s right now, so I am going to spend the next few posts introducing you to some other blogs I’d like you to check out.

The first one I’d like to introduce you to is voodoofunk.blogspot.com, published from Guinea (West Africa) by a man known only as Frank.

Frank is a retired DJ who moved to Guinea to “dedicated his entire time to the pursuit of African Funk Records.”

He calls himself a “vinyl archeologist”.

Based on my tour of his blog, he appears to be searching for the roots of Afrobeat music.

Whether you are a musicologist, or simply like to groove to African beats, this is a great place to visit, as Frank has some interesting tales to tell, with plenty of posted photos of his travels, album covers, battle scars and more.

He also posts Afrobeat mixes in MP3 format, five of which I have included here: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5
