One morning I awoke to a travellin’ Jones. I hopped a blue train south from the Great Lakes – down through the coal-mining hills of Pennsylvania, over the Virginia mountains and into Tennessee. I caught a connection to the Orange Blossom Special, and just kept heading south. In the morning I found myself coasting along the French Broad River, passing the rusty cages and crumbling smokestacks of industry long since gone. When the train finally came to rest, I took to the streets, following the river until I found this graffiti on the edge of downtown Asheville, North Carolina, just north of the interstate 240 expressway. I never did catch up with Johnny’s posse, but this mural inspired me to put together this career-spanning collection of the man in black.
